ACL Prevention | Program

The incidence of female to male ACL injury is 3.5 times greater in Basketball and 8 times greater overall in high school sports, including Soccer, LAX and Volleyball. 

This is why Next Play Performance has decided to offer an ACL Prevention Program for young female athletes held at our strength training gym location at the back of the building. Our in-house Physical Therapist, Dr Mike Blanco, will run this vital strength and awareness training program.

Dr Mike Blanco of Rival Physical Therapy is an ACL Specialist who has over 3 years experience treating and preventing ACL injuries as a Physical Therapist and 9 years total with a background in exercise science.


4 Focused Modules will be offered on a rotating basis throughout the
ACL Prevention Program

Module 1 | ACL Prevention Strength Exercises
Module 2 | ACL Prevention Mobility & Stretching
Module 3 | ACL Prevention Drills 
Module 4 | ACL Prevention (sport specific) Warmups & Cooldowns

It is recommended to attend sessions for 4 weeks in a row for a maximum benefit to learn all that the program has to offer.

What to Expect

Module1: ACL Prevention Strength Exercises

  • Specificity of movement and how all reps should be done SLOW and CONTROLLED

  • Bodyweight isometrics of the hips, knees, ankles, progress to loaded eccentric movements

Module2: ACL Prevention Mobility & Stretching

  • Learn a new style of stretching through active loading

Module3: ACL Prevention Drills 

  • Landing Drills

  • Deceleration Drills

  • Jumping Drills

Module4: ACL Prevention (sport specific) Warmups & Cooldowns

  • Recap of all the past 3 weeks 

  • Strength warmups

  • Functional mobility

  • Dynamic drills to be able to have a bulletproof routine prior to practices and games

This is a special program that’s hosted by Dr. Mike Blanco at Next Play Performance. The program will be offered at 4pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This purchase entitles the participant to attend 4 sessions of their choice within the 8 week time frame after their purchase. It is recommended to attend sessions for 4 weeks in a row for a maximum benefit to learn all that the program has to offer. To continue participating in the program after 4 attended sessions, please purchase a new package.
